Wow, what another great night to be in the house of the Lord.
Bro. Randy Sutherland preached tonight out of 2 Corinthians 8:1-14 on “The Marks of a Macedonian Ministry.” They didn’t have a lot, but they were willing to help other with what they did have. We never get too old to learn. We need to grow in the grace of God and in our giving. When we invest in the Lord, He’ll invest in us. One of the marks was they were a witness of the grace of God in their lives. There will be something going on at this kind of church. The grace of God is what put us in the church that we are members of. We should be a witness of the grace of God that is in our lives and in our church. Another mark is they had grace for their affliction. They suffered great affliction, yet they kept on going for the Lord. When we find out that God is all we have, we’ll find out that God is all we need, even in persecution and affliction. Though they suffered persecution they had an abundance of joy in their lives that showed up on the outside. They had an abundance of joy because God was living inside of them. We have God living inside of us as well, and we should have an abundance of joy about us. If there is a crowd that should have joy and satisfaction, it should be us. The joy of the Lord is our strength. When we face time of affliction we should still have the joy of the Lord on us because He is our true source of strength. Thirdly, they were authentic. They were real, and not hypocrites. They did not try to put on being a Christian, because they were real Christians. We need each other. We need to drop our act because we need each other. We need each other for the strength that is needed to go on. If we are real we will help each other and realize that we are not the only one fighting a battle. We are all fighting a battle. The last mark you see of a Macedonian ministry is their willingness to give. We should be willing to give our money, because it’s not really our money to begin with. We should give until we miss it and it hurts. As the Bible says, it is more blessed to give than it is to receive. Everything we have is because God gave it to us and therefore, it all belongs to God. If we learn to give, we will soon find out that God will give it right back to us. The first thing they gave was they gave of themselves. We will never be more like Jesus than when we give of ourselves. God will use individuals to help others if we are willing to do the work. What have we done with the talents God has given us? God has given us all talents to use for His honor and glory. Have we exercised our gifts that He has given to us? If we’ll do what we can, God will do what we cannot.
We are looking forward to tomorrow night and all that God has in store for our lives through the meeting.
