What a tremendous sermon we heard tonight from our Pastor. He preached an excellent, timely message.

Pastor preached out of Philippians 3:10-16 and 2 Timothy 2:1-2 on “On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!” We should not take the Bible lightly and no passage of Scripture should become so familiar that we never read it again or think we can’t get something from that passage of Scripture. Do we teach people what we know and have learned about the Word of God? If we don’t teach others we will lose some of the knowledge that we know because we have not applied it in the area of teaching it to others. If we never have a goal, we will never make it. People make it in the Christian life because they have a mark. First point is on your mark. The mark cannot be moved. It cannot be changed, deviated, or moved. It is there to stay and anybody can reach the mark because it is the same for everyone. We can reach the same mark that the Apostle Paul reached. The mark cannot be misleading – Luke 9:62. We cannot run as fast as we should if we are looking back. If we turn around we will cause others to look back as well. We set ourselves up to fall if we are looking back. If we keep our eye on the mark our row will be straight. Our lives will be straight and lined up with the Word of God. There is no telling how many people are out of church tonight because they saw others looking back and they looked back and went to the world. The mark is not to be mutilated either. We mutilate the mark when we say we know what God says but…. A little bit off will add up to a lot off in a little bit of time. Second point is get set. Our aim should be right or mature. We need to be mature in the race God has for us. We ought to strive to be mature in the Christian walk. We should be moldable. We should be moldable so we can stand together in unity. We can cheer each other on as we are running the race together. Sometimes we fun because others beside us are running. Sometimes we run for somebody else. Others may run because of us. Someone else is following us, and we should always keep that thought in focus while we are running the Christian race. The last point is GO! We run by the same rule. The details to our race are laid out in the Word of God. We are have the same details and run the same race and have the same rules. We learn the details of the race by reading the Word of God and by the preaching of the Word of God. Listen to God so he can teach us and help us to run our race. We should be teaching our kids how to run the Christian race. Are we willing to do whatever it takes to reach the mark? How are you running tonight?
