We had a great day today in the house of the Lord. The Lord has really blessed us, and we should be thankful for all the blessings that God has given to us. We had 10 on the bus this morning with 1 being a first time rider. We had 2 to come tonight for the evening service.
This morning for Sunday school we are continuing to look into the book of Joshua and we were in Joshua 4 this morning. We looked at how Joshua set up two different memorials for the children of Israel. He set up one that is located in Gilgal and then another memorial was set up in the midst of the Jordan River where the priest’s feet stood so that the children of Israel could cross the Jordan River on dry ground. The memorials that Joshua set up was so that future generations down the road could look at the memorial and ask their family and they could be told the story of how God dried up the Jordan River for the children of Israel. The memorials were set up to be a reminder to the children of Israel of what God had done for them. Are we building any memorials to leave behind to future generations and even to the generation we are in now? No one is too young to be building up memorials. Some memorials that we can build in our life is the memorial of having a great testimony. We need people to leave behind a great testimony so that others can see that if they made it through their hard times then they can too. Another memorial that we can leave behind is that of being a prayer warrior. How much time do we spend in prayer with the Lord? Do others even know that we pray? A third memorial we could leave behind is the memorial of living a life of faith. We should live our life in faith in God because He knows what tomorrow holds. All we have to do is trust Him with our life and let Him lead our lives. Also we could leave behind the memorial of having a love for the Word of God. Do we have a desire to read the Word of God and to memorize it and to let it work in our lives? How much time do we spend daily reading the Word of God? Are we building a memorial with our lives in having a desire to follow Jesus and do and go wherever He wants us to go? Lastly are we building the memorial of having a forgiving spirit? Forgiveness is something that must take place. People are going to hurt us, it’s up to us to forgive them whether they ask for forgiveness or not. We should forgive others because just look at how much God has forgiven us. Do you have any memorials in your life? Do you have anything that you could pass down to others through the life you are living?
This morning Pastor preached out of John 6:60-71 on “What Will Help You To Keep Walking.” We have to make a choice. Will we walk away from Jesus, or will we stay with Him? What are we going to do with the choice? The decision is up to us. We will keep walking when we get full confidence in Jesus Christ. When we have full confidence in something we believe it. People walk away from God because they don’t have full confidence in God. We don’t follow the Word of god because we don’t have full confidence in God. If we don’t trust in the Lord, who are we going to trust? When we figure out there is no other one to follow than God that is a great day in our lives. The best place we can be is that for every question our answer is in God. What would we do and where would we go if we left church? God is the only one that can fix our problems and answer our questions. Secondly we will keep walking when we get full confidence in God’s Words. We need to get full confidence in the Word of God. Have confidence in Proverbs 3:6 in that if we acknowledge Him in all our ways He will direct our paths. When was the last time we read the Bible? When was the last time we picked up the Word of God when we were in trouble? We need to get into the Word of God. We sin because we have lost confidence in the Word of God. Also we will keep walking when we get full assurance in His Deity. We’ve love the fact that God is all powerful. We’ve lost the fact that Jesus was just as much God as God was Jesus. We should never forget that God is the one that created the heaven and the earth. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost are the same person and we don’t need to forget that. There is none like Him and there is none greater than Him. When we need Him, He’s always there. Lastly we will keep walking when we get full confidence that God’s counting on us. One would end up betraying Jesus; He didn’t say all of them would betray Him. Jesus had confidence in them and He was counting on them. We quit on God and we will break His heart. God saved us to be a testimony to others of His saving grace. God wants to use us, He doesn’t want us to quit. You can walk away, or you can keep walking with God. What is your choice? Will you walk away, or will you keep walking on?
For those of you who are not members of Antioch Baptist Church I want to explain why there are some messages that are not being blogged about. I miss some services because I stay at home with my Grandma so that my parents can go to church. My Grandma is not able to get around any more like she use too, and she has to have constant 24 hour watch. So tonight I stayed home to look after my Grandma so that my parents could go to church. We take turns staying home with my Grandma. I just felt like I needed to explain the reason there are some messages that are not being blogged about. I didn’t say this for you to feel sorry for me, but just to let you know the reason some services are not blogged about. Thank you for understanding.
