Tonight Pastor preached out of 1 John 1:1-10 on “Fellowship.”  What brings about fellowship? As a saved person we have the right of fellowship with God and with fellow believers as well.  We see the deliverance of fellowship in its purest form in verse 1 and 2.  There had to be a mediator in the purest form for us to have fellowship with God.  Someone had to be able and willing to hold our dirty hands and connect them with God.  Jesus Christ is the purest form, and He is the One that is willing to be our mediator between God and man.  We also see the declaration of fellowship in verses 3 and 4.  We have fellowship with God because of His love.  When we have fellowship with Christ we have fellowship with each other.  When we are out of fellowship with man, we are out of fellowship with God.  The Christian life can be filled with joy.  Thirdly we saw the deception of fellowship in verses 5 and 6.  God I slight and there is no darkness in Him, and if we say we have fellowship with Him and live in darkness we are lying and we are deceptive.  We can’t describe what darkness is because we are not walking in the light.  If we walk in the light we will know what darkness is.  The sin of darkness is anything that is not light and of the truth.  It’s a deliberate walk, someone who wants others to think they are walking in the light when they are walking in darkness.  Fellowship is a big deal.  Deception is when we say we have fellowship with God and we are walking in darkness.  If we are not careful with our fellowship with God we will let a little darkness in and we will get used to the darkness and let more in.  We also saw the dedication of fellowship.  There is a lot of difference between what we say and what we do.  What causes dedication is walking in the light and He is in the light.  Light causes fellowship with light.  Best way to have fellowship is to walk in the light as He is in the light.  Lastly we saw the desperation of fellowship in verses 8 through 10.  Confession is a real confession in these verses.  He doesn’t want to do it again. Forgiveness depends on God’s faithfulness and not ours.  We need to deal with our darkness and start walking in the light.  Fellowship also deals with a close relationship with God.  Fellowship with God isn’t just about having our prayers answered, but it’s also about having that close relationship with God.  How is your fellowship with God? If you’re not careful you’ll start living the life of deception.  It’s not what we say, it’s what we do.  What’s better than saying is walking and confessing.
