What a tremendous day we had today in the Lord’s house.  It’s always a wonderful time when it’s time to go to church.  There is nothing like being in God’s church and amongst God’s people.  We had 16 kids ride the bus this morning with 2 first time riders this morning.  Tonight we had 6 kids to ride the bus to church.

This morning we are continuing our journey through the book of Joshua and we were on Joshua chapter 9 this morning.  We learned how that Joshua and the children of Israel made a league with the Gibeonites.  The Gibeonites tricked them and Joshua believed their report without asking God about the matter.  They later found that the Gibeonites lived amongst them.  Joshua should have asked council of the Lord in this matter about making a league with the Gibeonites.  Gibeonites are a picture of the world and as Christians we should not make a league with the world.  The people of the world should not be our best friends and the ones that we hang out with the most.  Our best friends should be those that are in the church that believe like we do.  Choosing our friends wisely is a very important matter because friends can make us live spiritually or worldly.  Our friends can cause us to do things that we never thought we could do.  One friend alone can make us go to the world.  That is why it is so important for us a Christians to have Christian friends and to not make a league with the people of this world.  What kind of friends do you have? Are they the kind that will help you spiritually, or the kind that pulls you to the world?  If your friends pull you to the world then you need to get away from them.

Today we had Bro. Ron Reilly with us and he preached for us in the morning service.  He preached on “The Christian’s Walk” out of Ephesians 2:10 and 1 John 2:6.  We are to be in His hands because we are His workmanship.  We are to be developing a Christian type of walk.  Our walk should be a walk of faith.  We have to be saved in order to have faith.  Without salvation we have no faith.  Salvation comes through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  We put our faith and trust in the Lord.  Our faith comes alive in Jesus Christ when we get saved.  When living the Christian life we need to get I out of the way.  Faith is seen by someone living the Christian life.  It does matter how we live because someone is always watching our life.  Our walk should also be a walk of gratitude.  Jesus’ life was filled with gratitude.  We are to be a thankful, grateful people.  We should be the most thankful people on earth.  Ephesians 5:20 and Romans 1:21-22.  A lost person doesn’t know how to be grateful.  When was the last time we thanked God for saving us in prayer? When was the last time we were thankful for the one that brought us to Jesus?  When was the last time we thanked God for our parents? When was the last time we thanked God for our children.  Our children are a gift from God.  We should be thankful God allows us to live for Him every day.  Where would we be had God not saved us? Lastly our walk should be walk of fellowship.  We are to be in fellowship with the Lord – Ephesians 5:8, 11-12.  Our fellowship is not to be with the world.  We are not to have any fellowship with the world.  We are to be different than the world – 1 John 1:1-3.  Are we in fellowship with the Lord or the world? Fellowship with the Lord is having communication with Him.  Ww have communication through speaking and listening.  God speaks to us through His Word and we speak to Him in prayer.  We should be in fellowship with the Lord daily.  One thing will stop fellowship: SIN!.  Sin blocks fellowship not relationship.  If we fellowship more with the world than with the Lord we are out of fellowship with God.  One way to get back in fellowship is to get our sin confessed and out of our life.  How are you walking?

Bro. Ron Reilly was with us again this evening and he preached for us out of 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 on “A Crown Of Rejoicing.”  The crowns we are given are to be put at the feet of Jesus when we get there. They are not for us to wear.  The crown of rejoicing is the crown we should all be striving for.  Three things are necessary if we are going to receive the crown of rejoicing.  Firstly there is going to be persecution and a price to be paid – Matthew 5:10-12.  We should rejoice when we are persecuted.  If people speak against us make sure its falsely.  Philippians 3:7-8 if we strive for this crown there is a price to be paid.  We may lose a friendship or a family member.  But, the blessings outweigh the price paid by far.  There is also a power to attain.  We have the promise of His presence.  We have access to His power.  Isaiah 40:30-31 and 41:10.  We shouldn’t be afraid because we have His presence and His power.  The power is for everyone to have.  Acts 1:8 – the result is that people got saved when they had the power of God on their life.  How do we get it? – Acts 4:29.  Ask God for the boldness to speak.  Lastly there is a purpose to be filled.  The purpose is to bring others to the light.  It’s so that others would be saved.  We should seek out those that need to be saved.  In Matthew 9:35-38 we see that Jesus was moved with compassion. We ought to reach out to others with compassion.  We are empty without the Lord.  People need to hear it from someone who has the power of God on their life and that has compassion.  Are you seeking after a crown of rejoicing? Do you have a burden for the lost? What kind of a witness are you?
