GOING ON THE OLD PATHS Jeremiah 6:9-17
INTRODUCTION: They were in a mess and they could care less! They wouldn’t listen to God, or anyone else; but revival will change that. If we have revival, there will be a difference about the Old Paths. You will get back to them, because they are right. The New Paths lead to destruction. God is on the Old Paths.
I. THE OLD PATHS WILL LEAD TO THE HOUSE OF GOD FOR THE TRUTH A. They couldn’t hear what God was saying - (v. 10) i. He would speak and they would reject His Word ii. He would cry out unto them, but they couldn’t hear a thing B. “They have no delight in it.” The Old Paths will cause the delight to return
II. THE OLD PATHS WILL LEAD TO A HAPPY HOME A. Their homes were a mess, and judgment was about to come - (vss. 11-12) i. Things are in a mess at Home ii. The children were rebellious
B. The Old Paths will put Love back in the Home i. Daddy will open His heart for the truth ii. Mama will obey God without a fight
III. THE OLD PATHS WILL LEAD TO SPIRITUAL GIVING
A. They will be happy to invest their lives into the things of God i. Israel had gotten greedy and had no room in their hearts to give to God ii. They had no time for God at all B. The Priest wouldn’t even be honest with God
IV. THE OLD PATHS LEAD TO THE TRUTH WITHOUT WATERING IT DOWN A. They were telling part of it, but not all of it B. They were promising things that wouldn’t happen i. Only the promises of God will help man ii. Man promises, but look out
V. THE OLD PATHS LEAD AWAY FROM THE WORLD - (V. 15)
A. They had been living in the world so long it didn’t even bother them i. They weren’t ashamed of their actions ii. They couldn’t even blush B. Revival will point out how hurts God over sin
