“Hungry People Aren’t Picky”

Proverbs 27:7

Honeycomb was a dessert.  Someone that is full of regular food will not desire any dessert, in a sense; it will be trampled under their feet.  This application can be taken spiritually.  A person that is full of themselves or full of this world will not desire anything from the Word of God.  The things of God will no longer be sweet to them.  They will leave a church because they feel like they didn’t get fed there.  It was not that the preacher was not preaching the message, they were just to full of the world that they did not have any room for the Word of God.  But, if they desire to be filled with the Word of God, God will fill them – Matthew 5:6.  When they get hungry enough they will eat anything that is set before them.  People get cold or hungry on God and blame everyone else for their hunger pains.

The word hunger means craving, urgent need for food, starved, or famished.

A hungry person will:

  1. Get determined.

A hungry person will eat whatever is place in their hands.

Picky people will continue to stay hungry.

  1. Get a desire.

A hungry person will want anything.  They want something to stir their heart.

  1. Get desperation.

When a person becomes hungry, there is only one thing that is on their mind, and that is to get some food.

They have to have it, it does not matter what it is.

They will take whatever message is preached at them.

  1. Get a delight.

A hungry person delights in the food that he is given.

A hungry person will not care what the preacher has to say, they just want to be filled.

A hungry person will eat because they know what they need has been given to them.

What position are you in tonight? Are you hungry, or are you being filled?  If you are hungry tonight, it is your fault.  You have gotten picky with your food.  The messages are being preached, but you do not let them apply to your life because you think you do not need them. If you do not care how much you get of God, you are going to stay hungry.  You will not eat the spiritual food that is set before because you are not hungry enough.  How hungry are you?  Are you staying hungry, or are you letting the Word of God fill you up?  If you are satisfied with yourself, you will starve spiritually. You may not have needed the message that you just heard today, but you will need it someday. Store it up while you can.  There are things that should be canned in your soul over things you have heard in the past.  Get hungry for the Lord.  God to church with a desire to get help from the message.
