“The Reality of the Field

This chapter in the book of Ruth revolves around the field. We as Christians work in the field.
The message tonight is to prepare the young people for what is coming as they work in the field, and for the older to continue working in the field.
The reality of the field is that of:
- The hurts in the field.
There is the hurts of the past.
Ruth was where she was supposed to be, but she still had a past of hurts.
Those around her reminded her of where she was from and who she was.
She wished she could get away from her past.
There is the hurt from your own self.
She lost everything she had when she left Moab.
Yes what she gained was greater but she still lost a lot.
- It is hot in the field.
When it gets hot in the field we want to get out of the heat. We want to go hide in the shade or get out of the field.
Boaz had the power to keep her from getting hot but that was not his plan for her.
Boaz took care of her in the midst of the heat. Made sure she had water and food.
- There is heartbreak in the field.
Work in the field and our heart will be broken from time to time.
The heart will be broken by those in the field with us.
There will be friends that will leave.
There will be leaders that will quit.
- There are hindrances in the field.
Biggest hindrance is our self.
We are our biggest hindrance in reading our Bible and praying.
We can have a big list of who our hindrances are, but when it all comes down to it, we are our biggest hindrance.
Yes others may hinder us, but our main hindrance is us.
Job could be our hindrance.
A girl or a guy could be our hindrance.
Just wait on God and stay in the field God has for us.
- There is help in the field.
There is help from the people in the field.
Boaz told Ruth to stay fast by his maidens.
Boaz told Ruth not to go to another field.
Ruth was guarded in the field by Boaz’s command.
Ruth was given blessings in the field, she was given hand full’s on purpose.
God has a field for each and every one of us as Christians, and He wants us to stay in the field He has chosen for us. There will be hurts from our past. There will always be a struggle with our past and the sin of our past. When it gets hot working in the field, what are we going to go? It is easy to quit or to give up or to go to another field when it gets hot; but that is not what God wants for us to do. God has provided everything that we need if we will only stay in His field. The pressure to quit and go to another field will always be there, but it is up to us to stay where God has us. Yes, we will be hurt from time to time; but we cannot let others make us get out of the field. There will also be hindrances while working in the field, and our biggest hindrance will be us. Will we allow ourselves to get us out of the field because of being a hindrance to our self? Yes, there will be hurts, heartbreaks, it will be hot, there will be hindrances; but there will also be people to help us in the field. There are people in the field to help us and to encourage us to stay fast. Along the way God will give us hand full’s of purpose in our lives. Don’t quit. Stay in the field, and every need will be filled by God. When we are going through hard times grab every blessing that comes our way. Never forget the blessings of God. STAY IN THE FIELD!!
