“The Effects of Sin”
Romans 6:12-23

Because of sin an archangel and his followers were cast out of heaven.
Because of sin God created hell for the devil and his angels, and for men that choose to reject God.
Sin separates. Sin separates man from God, families, and friends.
Sin has consequences.
Sin causes the judgment of God to be sent.
Introduction:
- The caution of sin – vs. 1-2
- The command not to sin – v. 12
It is our choice, but God commands us not to sin.
- The consequences – v. 21
There is not fruit
There is death
Sin will take us farther than we want to go.
Sin is always working.
The effects of sin:
- Sin delights – Hebrews 11:24-25
There is pleasure in sin.
Sin is delightful but it is only for a season.
Eve saw the delight in sin.
Noah saw the delight in sin.
Achan saw the delight in sin.
Eli’s sons saw the delight in sin.
Samson saw the delight in sin.
David saw the delight in sin.
- Sin deceives – Hebrews 3:12-13
Sin deceives pretty swiftly.
Ananias and Sapphira were deceived by sin and it cost them their life.
They grieved and lied to the Holy Ghost.
Samson was deceived.
Eve was deceived in the Garden of Eden.
A person in sin is always looking for good to come out of their life, but nothing good can come out of sin.
- Sin depresses and devastates – Psalm 51 and Psalm 19
Luke 22:61-62 Peter went out and wept bitterly.
Sin devastates because it is contrary to God.
Guilt comes with sin.
There is sorrow in sin.
There is much regret because of sin.
Sin brings about remorse and fear
Psalm 19:12-14
These verses show the road to destruction.
- Sin destroys – Romans 3:10-16
The law of sowing and reaping is real.
When we sin we become prisoners to sin.
Because of sin we may be shackled to an early grave.
Sin puts bonds on us that we cannot get off by our self. It takes Jesus to get those bonds off.
- Sin brings death – Romans 6:23
The wages of sin is a grave.
A life given to sin will find a box somewhere.
1 John 5:16
What is the solution?
REPENT!
Look to God!
There is a merciful God in heaven that is ready and wanting to forgive.
We will not get away from the great transgression without a mark on our life.
Hosea 14:1-9
God is merciful.
God will not despise a broken and contrite heart.
