“Momma, Give Your Kids Something to Stand On”
Proverbs 6:20
By: Pastor
May 13, 2018 – SM
Most of the Proverbs are on the sons, and many of the others are on the father.
Mothers, give out something for your children to remember.
Give them something to take with them.
Teach them the law of God.
Mothers, do not give your children a reason to forsake the law.
You raise your children at home; you come to church to concrete what you are teaching at home.
Mothers, teach your children the Word of God.
- Mothers give them something that affects their heart. – v. 21
The things of God will affect their heart when they realize it affects your heart.
Get affected by the worship time.
Let your children see you read your Bible and pray.
Your children do not pray and read their Bible because they do not see you doing it.
Your children do what they see.
If the message does not affect you, it will soon stop affecting your children.
Mothers keep giving your children something. Mothers let God deal with your heart continually on a daily basis; not just once in your life time.
- Mothers give them something worth following – v. 22
What you are teaching them, will it lead them right?
The law does not get off track, we are the ones that get off track; and the Word of God is what will lead us back to where we need to be.
Mother, does your daughter desire to be like you when she grows up?
If you do wrong or right, you are leading them either way.
If your children go astray, it is the parents fault. It is your responsibility as a parent to teach your children right.
- Mothers give them something to dream about – v. 22c
Give them something to dream about in serving God.
Talk to them about serving God.
Dream with them about what they want to be and do for God.
When they dream, fan the flames for them.
Encourage their desire to live for God.
Give them something to dream about.
Give them a reason to dream about being like you.
- Mothers give them something to fight with to keep them pure – v. 24-26
Children, listen to your parents.
Mothers teach them who to stay away from when looking for a spouse.
Divert them from the strange woman, and do not teach your daughter to be that strange woman.
Teach them that if the person they are interested in do not go to church that they are the strange one.
Mothers you have an obligation to teach them right. What are you going to give your children to stand on? Give them something that they would desire to want to know God on a personal level. Make it to where they desire to be saved. Tell them how you got saved. Don’t live to where your children wonder if you are saved and where you are at when you die. Mothers, teach your children the right way, the way of the Word of God.
BUS MINISTRY UPDATE:
We had 6 kids to ride the bus this morning. Yes the number was low, but that is fine as we are thankful for those that came this morning.
