“What Made Jesus Stand Still?”

Not a lot of Scripture says that Jesus stood still.
It is a big deal when we stop Jesus.
Jesus stopped the wind, He stopped the waves, and He stopped the seas, but here He stops Himself.
Something was moving His heart and making Him want to do something.
- He heard the cry of these men.
One of the cries of these men got Jesus’ attention.
Mercy – Bring help to the wretched.
All Jesus thought was the wretched needed help.
The wretched do not see that they need God’s help most of the time.
Saved and lost can be one that is wretched.
Repentance is needed in everyone’s life.
It was not their blindness; it was their wretchedness that they saw that day.
When we get tired of being miserable and wretched (seeing our self as God see us), that is when we will cry out and get help from God.
- He heard their opposition.
Those around them and that were following Jesus were giving opposition to these blind men.
If you are telling someone about the Lord there will be some opposition.
The men around them are trying to get these blind men to shut up.
They were trying to shut up someone who had a need.
Biggest hindrance is the pretenders that pretend to follow Jesus.
There was also opposition from themselves.
Thinking to themselves about what will other say when we cry out?
It must have been embarrassing to them to cry out.
We should not allow what we think others will say to stop us from getting the help that we need.
- Heard their story.
In verse 32 they had to move to God in order to get help.
Jesus wanted them to realize what their problem was.
They knew they had an incurable disease and Jesus was their only hope.
The only thing we need is someone to help us and to fix our lives.
We will get help when we get honest with God.
Our only hope is Jesus. Their only hope was Jesus.
We are never guaranteed Jesus will stop by our way again.
We need to cry out for mercy like these blind men did.
They realized Jesus was the Master and that is who they needed to help them.
When we cry out for help, God will hear our prayer.
When need to get to the place where we need the mercy of God on our life.
Ask God, He may just stand still for us.
