There are 2 important words that are found in this chapter and they are “run” and “ran”.
David did not go to fight Goliath, he went to feed his brothers and their officers.
- When you’re willing to listen to authority.
You will never go far in life if you buck authority.
He obeyed attentively. He did exactly what he was told to do. He listened to every detail of what he was told to do.
In order to run well you have to heed to authority.
God’s purpose for your life is bigger than you can ever see.
God wants you to be obedient to His call on your life now, which is all He wants.
- When you heed authority.
It is one thing to listen to authority and another to heed to authority. You can listen to authority, but that does not mean you are heeding what they are saying.
You not only need to listen to authority, but you need to heed it as well.
David had a desire to be used which is why he heeded to his authority.
Do you want to be used by God?
- When you want to carry foot to those in the battle.
God saved you so you could help others.
Be a help and a blessing to others.
Does God get the glory for what you do?
When God gets the glory form your life others will get help from your life.
Be a help to someone else.
- When you get excited about running well.
David was doing the least job of anybody and he knew that.
He was going as fast as he could to get the job done that his father had sent him to do.
He was excited about what God had given him.
You need to bloom where you are planted. Whatever job God has give to you, bloom there. Be the best that you can possibly be for Him if for nobody else. God is the one that matters the most anyway.
Do your best at whatever you do.
Be excited about doing the job god has put you in.
Be involved in the work of God
God chose you for a reason to do the work no one else can do but you.
- Once you get a taste for running you will never want to quit.
After David ran carrying the cheeses, he was then seen running with his sling shot.
David never stopped running.
God puts you on a path, how you respond to authority determines how far and how great you run your race.
You may be the only one that can do the ministry God has put you in.
Do your best at where you are at!
