Romans 7:15-25
As you determine to do right evil is always present with you.
It is as a lion waiting to attack you.
Evil is something we have to deal with.
Romans 12:9, 17
We can recompense evil for evil.
1 Corinthians 15:33-34
Hebrews 3:12
Talking to a saved person here.
1 Samuel 16:13
David was just anointed King of Israel.
1 Samuel 10:6-9
Saul was a saved man
1 Samuel 16:14-23
If you are saved there is a fight against that which is evil.
Do we come to church just to hear the harp?
Do you allow evil to come into your life and instead of dealing with the sin and repenting you just come to church and hear the harp to appease your sin?
Saul dealt with an evil spirit and then jealousy hooked up – 1 Samuel 18:8-12
Saul went from the harp pacifying him to wanting to kill David.
What was the evil spirit in Saul’s life?
Why did Saul not fix the evil spirit?
He just kept pacifying it and hearing the harp play.
The difference between Paul and Saul is that Paul said “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” – Romans 7:24. Saul never thought he did anything wrong.
Paul needed and wanted someone to cut that rope of the dead man off from him.
Saul’s evil spirit destroyed his life.
Envy came in Saul’s life and then strife.
Saul felt better after hearing the harp.
If you are pacifying your evil spirit you feel better hearing the harp, you get yourself soothed and feel better, but there is no change because the evil is not dealt with in your life.
You get so self-centered that you forget God. The things of God just become a part of your life, reading your Bible and praying.
The evil man begins to creep in as we go to sleep spiritually.
Evil is present with us daily, it will never go away. If you do not deal with it, it will deal with you.
Saul spends the rest of his life justifying his deeds. It was always someone else’s fault.
You are convinced it cannot be you.
1 Samuel 16:21 “and he loved him greatly”
Saul’s love turned into hatred and tried to kill David 2 chapters later.
If you do not deal with the evil man, it will destroy you, it will overcome you.
The evil spirit is not satisfied with just one thing, it will do more and more in your life.
Go to church and let God show you exactly what you are and how He sees you. This is how you should go to church.
Do not lose the care of wanting God to work in your life.
You are in an everyday battle with evil.
When you quit fighting you succumb to that which is evil. You take on his traits.
Evil is not satisfied with just being tied to your hands, it wants your whole body, and if you do not fight against evil, it will get your whole body.
Some of your biggest battles will be with your family.
Evil does not have to dominate you even though it is with you.
Evil dominated Saul’s life.
God help you not to live your life to come to church to pacify your evil ways, but to say “O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”
Do you go to church to hear the harp play, or do you go to church to get help from the Word of God and the preaching?
