“How to Stay in Your Place”
Psalm 23:1-6
By: Pastor
August 12, 2018 – SM
You should stay in the house of God all of your life.
- You have to start right – v. 1
You cannot have a Shepherd unless you are a sheep.
The sheep belong to the Shepherd.
The church will not change you, but you can come to church and hear the gospel message that will change your life.
If you do not start right you will not finish right.
You have to get saved and let God be the Shepherd of your life.
- You have to get satisfied with Him – v. 2
You will not stay in your place if you are not satisfied with Him.
You will not be satisfied with Him if you do not start right.
Follow Him and he will lead you to a place where you want to go.
You get unsatisfied with Him when we think we know better and more than Him.
You may not always want to go the way He leads you; if so, just stop and pull out a Jeremiah 33:3 and call out to Him in prayer.
He knows where to go and how to go even though you may not understand or like it.
- You have to understand there is safety with Him – v. 3
You may not be where you should be yet He cares about you and will come and guide you.
When you do not follow Jesus, you will let the name of Jesus down.
Only God can restore you when you need help; nothing else can restore you.
He will restore you back to where you need to be.
Your restoration does not happen overnight, it is a slow process back and you may feel like God’s not restore you, but He is.
- You have to realize the seriousness of the journey you are walking.
You will go into the valley, but you will also come out of the valley.
You will not like the shadow, and the darkness, and walking alone; but during these times that is when you realize all that God is.
You may be walking in the fire, but you’ll come out of it.
Your walk is a serious walk with the Lord.
You must be serious in your walk with God.
- You must realize the security you have in Jesus Christ – v. 5
You are in a place of hurting and God will surround you, and feed you, and help you.
God will prepare a table for you to feast at.
He will be there beside you to give you security in Him.
Rest in Him and he will take care of you.
Whatever you need, God will provide it for you.
