“Jacob’s Predictions”

Genesis 49:1-28

The certainty of these predictions Vss. 1-2

Benediction and warning Vs. 2

The sons associated with Judah Vss. 3-18

The hope Reuben should have given to his father.  Rebels have no idea of the damage they cause.  They don’t care Vs. 3

A very clear rebuke of Reuben Vs. 4

Simeon and Levi- Jacob cursed their anger because anger can be controlled. Vss. 5-7

Judah means praise.  The king of the tribes.  He had the capacity and character to rule.  The Messiah would come through this tribe. Vss. 8-12

All the apostles came from Zebulun and Naphtali except Judas.  Vs. 13

Isaachar- very strong: not lazy or idle. Vss. 14-15

Dan means God is my judge.  A small, insignificant tribe. Vss. 16-18

Gad-Persevering warfare: keep on keeping on.  Failure is never final. Vs. 19

Asher- the love of ease: watch with who your friends are. Vs. 20

Joseph- Super abundance of blessings, Christians wil be persecuted. Vss 22-26

Benjamin- Son of the right hand.  Great archer, bold. Vs 27
