“A Generation Raised In Church”
1 Samuel 2:12

- They knew not the Lord
Eli’s sons knew not he Lord yet they were raised in church.
Just because you are raised in church does not mean you are a Christian.
Eli was not the daddy he should have been, and he lost his children.
The biggest mistake you can make as a parent is to cover up for your children.
The sad part of this story is that both generations were alive at the same time.
- They did not give God His part first – v. 13-16
They served themselves first before they served the Lord.
They took God’s part first.
Give God His part, and you will not be disappointed with yours.
Joseph is a good example of this.
Churches today have replaced God’s music with the worldly music.
Parents are teaching their children that the job is more important than the church and that money is more important than giving. Because of this, their children know not the Lord.
Give God your life, and you will not be disappointed.
- Served as if there was no God at all – v. 17
People began to despise worshipping the Lord and sacrificing to the Lord.
The people no longer desired to go to church.
If the church lives for them self, people will see it and desire not to come to church.
It didn’t make any difference what they did at church.
- Their sin got worse; it came to church – v. 22
The man of God covered up their sin and would not handle it.
Deal with the sin, don’t hide it.
A church that does not deal with sin, the lights will go out in that church.
- Your children take the place of God – v. 29
Letting your children join organized sports will take you away from church.
Your sport will take the place of God.
Eli honored his kids more than God. His kids could do anything they wanted to do.
God can and will take your children away from you if you honor them more than you honor God.
Their sin got worse and worse.
If your kids guide you while they are young, they will guide you when they are old.
If your kids are not right with God, it is not your wife’s fault; it is your fault daddy.
- God will raise up one to serve Him – 13:19
None of Samuel’s words fell to the ground even at a young age.
Samuel’s parents raised Him for God. They raised Him in church and they raised him right.
God had a boy that desired to serve Him, and God used him.
