In these verses we have the preparation for a group of people fixing to go into the Promised Land.
The Promised Land speaks of a victorious Christian life.
Are you satisfied where you are at or do you want to go further?
Do you desire to go further in your marriage or in your spiritual life?
When you get satisfied you get lax, and you begin to lay down.
Get satisfied where you are at and there will be a lot of things you’ll miss out on.
What happens when we got a little further with God?
- The promises of God – v. 1
The land was already promised to them, they just had to go a little further.
There are so many promises God has already given you, you just have to go further with Him.
You have to leave things behind in order to go a little further.
You don’t put enough value on the promises of God, and that is a big problem.
You don’t know what you’re missing out on.
Leave those things that are keeping you from the inheritance of God.
- There will be fruit there – v. 2
There will be fruit in your life if you go further with God.
May not see the fruit today, but you may see it tomorrow.
The type of fruit is not mentioned in the Bible, but the fruit was already there. God doesn’t tell you what fruit you will bear; He just tells you there will be fruit.
For further will God and you will see what fruit there is.
You have to make a determination you are going further with God.
The land is waiting just for you.
If God promises you fruit, there will be fruit.
The fruit is there; don’t let it rot on the vine.
- Have a closer walk with God – v. 2b
You will have an experience like you’ve never had before in your life.
Your problem is you have gotten satisfied where you are at in your life.
You forfeit a closer walk with the Lord if you do not go further with God.
Your life can be better, but you have to go further.
If you make the first step to God, God will take a set toward you and His steps are much bigger than yours.
- He made it – v. 3
He had only heard about the land, but it was enough for him to desire the land.
He made it to the land God promised them 40 years earlier.
Go further with God, you’ll get to places in your spiritual life and say you made it here.
The devil will tell you that you cannot make it but you can make it.
- Never forget where God found you at – vs. 5-8
Never forget what He has done in your life.
Remember how far God has brought you and have faith in God that He will take you to where He promised you.
Keep yourself little in your own eyes and realize you cannot do it without God.
The hand of flesh will fail you.
You can go further with God whether anybody else goes with you or not.
