If we have not prepared our self to run, we will not run.
Paul ran to do his best, to win his race.
Are we running to win or are we running so that others will know we are in the race?
Are we running our race the best that we can?
If we are going to run, we must prepare our self.
- We cannot live a show dog life and expect it to work – v. 26
Are we in it to show off?
If we live a show dog life we think we know it all.
We will not finish the race if this is the kind of life we are living.
A show dog person is someone that is not dependable.
How big a ministry is does not determine our race.
We do not have to show anybody anything for when we do we worry about what others think instead of what God thinks.
- We must subdue our enemy – v. 27
Our flesh is our enemy.
Our flesh is the thing that will get us out of the race.
The words “keep under my body” means to beat black and blue, handle it roughly.
We have to keep our flesh beat down if we are going to win the race and run the race.
We must keep on, keep on, keep on beating the flesh; it has to be a daily thing.
The words “bring it into subjection” mean to lead away into slavery.
Our flesh must become a slave to us.
If we have a slave we must have a master. Are we the master or is our flesh the master?
The choice is ours to make whether our flesh or our spirit is the master.
- We must be serious about our sermon – v. 27
We need to live what we say and what we know.
We need to take to heart what we hear and say.
We need to respect our fear or fears.
If we fear something, we need to build walls in our life.
We need to respect our foes.
We cannot let our guard down about our foe and around our foe.
We cannot give up fighting them.
Rewards are fought for if they are received.
God has put everything in our path for us to finish our race. If we do not finish our face it is not God’s fault, it is our fault. People are watching us. Are we running the race to win, or is it just for show?
