2 Chronicles 7:14 was the spring board verse for his message tonight.
This verse is all about unity.
Revival can come to the church if we all get in unity and do what this verse says to do. But it can also come to you individually if you do what this verse says. You can have revival if you want it.
Abraham was the promoter of unity here in Genesis 13.
- Must keep your life close to an altar – v. 4
- The altar is centered around separation
They just left Egypt where there was no altar.
Keep yourself out of Egypt and on an altar.
Abraham responds wrongly when he was in Egypt, but he responded correctly when at an altar.
If you are influence by the world that means you are NEVER at the altar.
You can tell how much time you spend on the altar by your responses.
The altar will separate you from the world.
- The altar is centered around sacrifice.
The altar is no good if there is no sacrifice.
If there is no sacrifice in your life, there is no unity.
Something in your life has to die, and it has to be the best.
- Do not let problems disrupt God’s plan for your life – vs. 5-6
Everything was going smooth and then problems came.
Problems will come from the most unlikely person in your life.
Just when things are going smooth in your life, the devil will send something to disrupt your life. He can’t stand for your life to be smooth.
Your heart will be broken by them, but you cannot let it detour you from God’s plan for your life.
- Do not let your desires disrupt your walk with the Lord – vs. 8-9
There was a focus that Abram would not let anything destroy it.
Abram had to outweigh his own mind to keep his focus.
He knew it was not worth losing the unity.
If you are not careful your desires can cause you to lose focus.
Abram never lost his focus for what God had for his life.
- Wrong choices of others will not be your guide – v. 10
Lot’s decision never affected Abram and his choices.
When others go wrong, do not let them rule your life.
Do what you know is right no matter what happened and no matter who goes wrong.
Just because your friends choose the wrong way does not mean that you have to go the wrong way.
Bad choices create separation.
Lots focus never changed which is why he made the wrong decision to put his tent towards Sodom.
- Learn to stay in your place – v. 12
Abram did not go anywhere, he stayed in his place.
Do not let anything move you from your place in the house of God.
Have some stability in your life in reading your Bible, praying, going to church, going soul-winning. Make these areas stick in your life.
Stay in unity and you will see God move.
You will see God show up if you stay in your place.
Just stay in your place, promote unity and wait for God to move.
Are you a promoter of unity?
