“God had Confidence in Them”

Judges 7:1-9

If we were alive in Gideon’s day our thinking would be if we want to win we would rather have more soldiers than less.  God can take a few and win any battle He wants.  Out of 32,000 men God handpicked those 300 men.  Gideon ended up with less than 1% of what he started out with.

God had confidence in them because:

  1. He already had help for them.

Unless they already had help before the battle started they were not going to win.

God already had help on the way for them.

We are not going to win any battles unless we already have help from the Lord on the way.

We are not able to do the job on our own.

  1. They trusted God.

They saw and heard that they were outnumbered before the battle even began.

They knew it was going to take God to win the battle.

God could do with them what He could not do with the other 31,700 men.

God wants us to be in the place where we need Him, and we have to have Him.

They had to trust God.

  1. They were a humble group of people.

They were willing to do whatever they were told to do.

God wants us to be willing to do whatever He calls us to do.

They were humble, yet they have enough confidence in God that they could win.

  1. They were a group of people that followed His ways.

God wanted them to do things His way, not their way.

God wanted them to fight His way.

God lets us get in battles that are bigger than us so He can get us where He wants us, on our knees.

  1. People that would stand in their place.

Had had a place for every one of those soldiers to stand that day.

God has a place for each and every one of us to be in.

The world cannot understand it, but we just have to stay in our place.

If we stay in our place we will be able to stand.

If we stay in our place God will give us the victory.

  1. They were in unity.

Staying in our place will teach us unity.

Sometimes we just have to laugh at what we went through because we know we could not have done it on our own.

Victory came for everyone of them because they were in unity.

Does God have confidence in you?  Does He know you will get the job done and that you will listen to Him? All God wants is some people that will listen to Him and do what He says to do.  You are still here because of God.  You are still in your place of calling because you have sought after God and you have turned from your wicked ways.  God has put you here for such a time as this.  God wants us to find our place, ge tin our place, stay in our place, and let God do the work in our lives.
