“How God Changes the Heart of the King”
Proverbs 12:1
By: Pastor
Nehemiah 1:1-4
God changed the king’s heart because one man was willing to stand up.
Most people do not pay attention to what is going on in their state. The average church has only about 30% of its members to vote, and that is usually for Presidential elections alone. In 1 Timothy 2:1-2, we are exhorted to pray for those that are in authority over us. Most people in the average church does not even know who their State Representative, Congressman, or Senator is. In 1963 Baltimore, Maryland was the first school to take prayer out. In 1890 there was a fight about reading the King James Bible in the public school system. The world is not taking our rights away from us, we are giving our rights away in America.
God can change the heart of a king but there needs to be
- A group of people that is concerned about how our county is going.
Be a concerned citizen.
The “I lay me down to sleep” prayer needs to go out the window, and a true concern for our state and our country needs to be there.
We need to be concerned about who is running for office during election times.
2. There must be a cry that is in our hearts.
We need to cry out for our children.
If we do not have children we need to cry out for the children of others.
We need to cry out and take a stand.
We need to cry out for that which is right.
3. There will be a challenge in the condition.
We think the challenge is too great, but nothing is too great for God.
God has helpers waiting to help us get the job done; we just do not know who they are.
Do not let the challenge overwhelm us. God is greater than any challenge we will ever face.
We do matter. Our representatives have a listening ear, and they want to hear what we have to say.
4. There must be some communion.
We must spend time in prayer with God for our country.
We cannot fight and win on our own, we must have God’s help.
Are you a concerned citizen of America? Do you even care what is going on in your state? We need to get some backbone about us and get some care and concern and stand up for what is right. We have sat on the sidelines too long and have given away our rights. Let us stand up for our rights as a Christian and as an American.
