“Now What Are You Going to Do?”

Genesis 37:1-11

At 17 years of age Joseph had a dream from God.

He was no one special, he was not even a man of God, yet he became special when you read about his life.

How are you going to react to certain situations?

You have to decide now how you are going to respond to situations later in life.

You can be a Joseph by taking a stand.

  1. About your vision

He could have kept it to himself.

Will you fear the opinions of others?

You take a stand for God and you will not be alone.

Will you tell others your visions so they can help you and encourage you?

Are you going to tell the vision God gave you?

His brethren hated him for his vision.

  1. His family turned against him

Are you going to give up?

Are you going to back up on your vision?

Will you let others overshadow what God has called you to do?

Joseph did not change.

  1. End up in the midst of the world – 39:1-2

Joseph no longer was around his family, his friends, he had no church to go, he had no Bible to read, and he did not have the Holy Spirit dwelling in him; yet the Lord was with him.

Will you lower your standards to fit in with the world?

The world offered Joseph everything it had to offer.

Will you set yourself apart from the world?

Will you keep your mouth shut and not let others know you are a Christian?

Joseph decided to take a stand and live for God.

An Egyptian saw the God was with him.

His testimony was strong.

He set himself apart.  He made a decision early in his life to live for God.

  1. In the midst of temptation – 39:7-13

There was a drawing from the world in temptation.

The Egyptians were easy on the eyes.

Joseph was over all the wealth of Egypt and had lots of power and still lived for God.

Will you keep your spirituality?

He told her; her position, his position, and where he stood.

Will you run from evil as Joseph did?

Will you strengthen your resolve?

  1. When being falsely accused

No one likes to be falsely accused, and none of us has been falsely accused like Joseph was that day.

When temptation comes, flee from it.

Joseph was lied about on something very wickedly.

Everything he did prospered because he made up his mine to live for God.

He continued to live for God even when being falsely accused.

  1. When passed over for a promotion or position

Will you complain about how unfair life is?  Life IS unfair.

Will you work against leadership and let everyone out, or will you continue to do your best?

Wait on God’s timing even though that is the hardest thing to do.

  1. When in a place of leadership – 41:38-40

Joseph saved the nations.

He had a worldwide impact because he was willing to live for God.

He made a stand.

Joseph does not lift himself up with pride.

Nothing negative is ever said about the life of Joseph.

He could be trusted with leadership.

Joseph never used his power in the wrong way.

God got the glory for all that he did.

God gave you your talents to live for Him, and to use them for His honor and glory.

Let God plan your life!
