“The Diligence of a Servant”
Ephesians 6:5-8; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

This portion of Scripture tells us how a servant should act and behave.
Proverbs 4:23 – “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
A servant needs to have a singleness of heart, a heart that desires to do the will of God.
We serve a Master that always does us right.
A servant gives himself u to another’s will.
Being a servant is not a bad thing.
A servant knew that all his needs were taken care of by his master.
- Must pay close attention in being diligent to obey – v. 5
When we got saved we became God’s property.
In order to be a right servant we have to be obedient.
Our natural man does not like to be obedient.
We have to pay attention in order to obey.
Obey – Listen, hearken, listening to one knocking on the door, submission.
Servants keep their eyes on their master.
We need to submit our self to God’s will.
When we fail to submit we become our own servant.
A servant knows his place.
- Diligent in having a singleness of heart – v. 5
Singleness of heart – sound, to fulfill his office, weaving together.
If we have a singleness of heart we will get the job done the way our Master wants it done.
We should have one mind to get the job done.
We should be the best at the job we are given because no one else can do it.
We should be so woven with God’s Words that we know when He moves.
- Diligent in being real – v. 6
There needs to be realness in our lives.
Our life should now be a show.
Some young people do not want to go to church because their parents are not real at home.
We will not be perfect, but we can be real.
Our life is a life of show when we only do things when others are watching us.
We become men pleasers when we are not real.
Are you real at church and at home? Do you have a church face and a house face?
Colossians 3:22
Homes are a wreck today because they do not fear God.
We should do what we do because we love God.
- Diligent in doing right – v. 7
Our eyes should be so on the Lord that we will get lied up with everything else.
We should do right because we love Him.
If we love Him we will do right even when no one else is around.
We serve Master that does not forget anything that we do. He keeps a clean record of everything.
If we are not careful everything we do will start to become a duty in our lives.
If we are not careful we will get cold on God.
