“They Still Work”
2 Chronicles 23:1-21

Joash was of the royal seed that was hid by a woman when his grandmother, Athaliah, had all the royal seed killed. He was hid in the house of the Lord.
Joash was 6 years old when he was crowned King.
Jehoiada, the High Priest, said they were fixing to change some things up.
David had been dead for over 100 years when this event was taking place.
Jehoiada was tired of having a queen that hated God.
When we take a stand, someone will get hurt.
- To guard our testimony – v. 16
They wanted to let others know they wanted to be God’s people.
They used things that were proved to work in the battlefield.
They were tired of being known like everybody else.
Our testimony does not mean much to the world anymore because too many have destroyed the true testimony of a Christian.
It had had been too long since they had taken a stand for something.
If we do not stand for something we will fall for anything.
- Did not stand for that which was involved in false worship – v. 17.
They destroyed everything involved with false worship.
They put the right stuff back in the house of the Lord.
Everyone was put back in their proper place.
We will get nothing done, and will be of no help if we do not stay in our place.
If we do not stay in our place, false worship will penetrate the house of God.
If we do not stand in our place the devil will ease someone else in our place.
Get out of place and we open the door for false worship.
- They got the law of God – v. 18
We just need to faithfully preach and teach the Word of God.
The gimmicks of the world will never work because Jesus can never be compared to anything.
They wanted to follow after the ways of David and Moses.
We should base our life and our beliefs on the Word of God.
We need to use the Bible to fix our problems.
The hope of our children is in the Bible.
- Guarded the worship.
They went and did things like they did in the old days.
We should go to church to worship the Lord.
When someone gets crossway with God and the first thing to go is their singing.
We have to quit letting just anybody do something in the church.
Go back to the David’s way because it worked.
Sunday is the Lord ’s Day, and we need and should honor it.
Old time worship still works.
All the people rejoiced.
