“What Is Darkness?”

Sinners today do not know what sin is.

The world fails to see what sin is because you as a Christian fail to see what sin is.

To explain what darkness is you must know what light is.

  1. The absence of fellowship with God – v. 6

If you are in darkness, you’re not in fellowship with God.

You can be saved and living in darkness.

Have you fellowshipped with God this week?

Darkness creeps in when fellowship creeps out of your life.

Your joy gets empty when you stop fellowshipping with God.

Fellowshipping with God is doing it every day not just Sundays and Wednesdays.

You do not see what God is doing on your behalf because you are not fellowshipping with Him.

Where has your tears and shout gone?

There are not any tears or shouts because you’ve allowed darkness to stay in your life too long.

  1. The absence of fellowship one with another – v. 7

Fellowshipping with others is important.

Can you share with others what you’ve read in your Bible this week?

Fellowship with your family.

Fellowship about God, and what He’s done in your life.

Have something to fellowship with others about.

  1. The absence of truth in your life – v. 8

When we cover up who we really are there is absence of truth.

You begin to think that you’re OK.

You are subject to deceiving yourself, you’re not better than anyone else.

The absence of truth in your life begins a life of deceiving yourself.

If you are in darkness, it is your choice.

You start out deceiving others, and then you deceive yourself.

  1. The absence of obedience – 2:3

When you do not obey it creates doubt about who God is.

You do not obey, you do not know if you know Him or not.

Doubt God and you’re not where you need to be with God.

When you start doubting, take a time out and see what is wrong in your life.

If you blame your problems on others, you are in darkness.

  1. The love of God is perfected – 2:5

When you acknowledge there is darkness in your life, tell God, and God will perfect His love in your life.

Let God open your eyes.

Let God perfect you to where you need to be, to where He wants you to be in your life.
