Our thoughts are that if the Lord is with us our road ahead will be smooth and that it will be an easy road to travel.
The Lord mentioned three different times that He was with David.
Saul was against David, but the Lord was for him and with him.
- He hedged himself – vs. 14
When David behaved himself wise, that was showing impeccable character on his behalf.
God’s hand was on him to get him to where he needed to be.
Instead of getting mad at Saul he behaved himself wisely.
He had to fight against bitterness in his life.
He hedged himself in.
He did not say anything he would regret later in life. He did not throw a javelin back at Saul.
We will quit if we do not have the Lord with us.
- He was honest – v. 16
David was honest before everyone.
He walked before everyone.
People of the world are watching us daily as we come in and go out.
We need to be honest so no one has to wonder about us.
- He was humble – v. 23
David did not think he deserved anything, especially being the King’s son-in-law.
Our problem today is we think we deserve everything.
We cannot have a relationship with God and have a proud spirit.
We need to be content with what we have.
God can change our attitude but we have to let Him.
We need to be satisfied where we are at and with what we have.
In verse 25 Saul wanted David dead.
Saul had the premeditated thought for David to fall.
What helped David are those that were with him.
We need to get those that stand with us to help us.
Some battles we have to fight alone and some battles we need people with us that stand with us.
- He was honorable – v. 30
When people said his name people stopped.
1 Samuel 19:11
Saul commanded his men to go to David’s house and kill him.
David’s name was set by as a young man.
We need the Lord to be with us so that we can miss the javelin, the snare, and our enemy.
We need God! We will fall if we do not have God with us.
The devil does not quit and will not ever quit. He will be there tomorrow.
