“You can make it”

Genesis 6:1-8

August 26, 2018 – SM

The first seven verses are bleak in this chapter.

God’s people disobeyed God and married those that were of the world; something that was against God’s will for their lives.

Only one family in all the earth did God see in Noah’s day.

The people of God were wicked continually every day.

Compared to Noah you have it made in the shade.

  1. Despite the lack of understanding of what God is doing – v. 17

God is fixing to destroy the earth and Noah could not get his mind around how God could do such a thing.

You may say “God, why are things happening like this in my life?”  It’s because you do not understand what God is doing in your life.

God is right and you must continue to follow Him at all times.

Even when you do not understand what is going on around you, you must keep your eyes on God.

If you lean on your own understanding you will not make it through the storm.

God understands everything that is going on in your life.

  1. Despite the storm – 7:12

Noah made it through the storm because God had already helped him to prepare before the storm came upon them.

This was the first storm Noah had ever encountered.

As bad as the storm was on the inside for Noah, it was not nearly as bad as what was happening on the outside of the ark.

You only feel a partial of what the storm really is like in your life.

Storms can be anything from physical, mental, emotional, financial, or they can be spiritual ones that you have to deal with by yourself.

The devil wants you to think the storm is too bad and you cannot make it.

Some storms you do not know how to react to.

Noah’s life was totally in the hand of God during the storm.

The devil is the most unconfident person in a storm.

God made the storm, and that is Who you need to keep your eyes on.

If you are not careful, you will get your eyes off the one who made the storm.

  1. Despite the separation – 7:1

Noah and his family walked away from all of their family when they got on the ark that day.

Salvation will bring separation in your life.

When people do not want to hear what you have to say, it brings separation.

You may even think “does it even matter?”  It really does matter.

You are to do what you are supposed to do and leave the results up to God.

  1. Despite the sorrows – 7:7, 16

Your sorrows can bear down on you so that you think you can make it.

Sorrows come a lot of times from family members that do not want to do right.

If you are not careful sorrows will overwhelm you.

You never know what others may be going through around you.

Sometimes you have to deal with sorrows all alone, and sometimes you do not know if you can make it.

Your biggest struggle will be what others think of you and your life being a joke to them.

The devil will do his best to beat your brain out and telling you that you cannot make it.

Just think, you’ve not had it as bad as Noah had it.

If the devil ever convinces you that you cannot make it, you will quit.

  1. God remembers you – 8:1

The first four words of this chapter are the most important words of this whole story – “But God remembered Noah.”

Noah never heard from God during the storm, but he just did what he was told to do by God in the beginning.

Wherever you are at, you are not alone.

God still cares about you.

What they could not see is what helped them make it through to the end.

God protected Noah and his family.

God will protect you and you can make it.

BUS MINISTRY UPDATE:

The Lord allowed us to bus in 43 kids this morning with 3 of them being first time riders.  The McDuffie route had 40 kids kids this morning with 3 first time riders.  The Columbia County route had 3 riders this morning.  It is a joy and an honor that God would allow us to be able to reach these kids and to bus them in every Sunday morning.  God has been good to us.
